XVR Community contest

We are excited to announce the first-ever XVR Community Contest! To celebrate the launch of our new XVR Community website, we will be hosting a competition during the month of November 2020. You could win a spectacular prize: the new head-mounted display from Oculus, the Oculus Quest 2 (64 GB)! This will allow you to really dive into the XVR On Scene world.

In order to participate, you just have to submit your favourite, custom scenario built with XVR On Scene to the XVR Community website. Many of you have created impressive scenarios that deserve to be shared with the global XVR user community, and one of our main goals with the new XVR Community website is just that – sharing content that will enrich everyone’s training experience.

Contest specifications:

When: The XVR Community contest runs from 1 to 30 November 2020. 

What: A scenario (for any training purpose) created with and for use in XVR On Scene, including any documents needed to run the scenario. The scenario must be compatible with XVR On Scene 2020.

Scenario criteria: All scenarios uploaded between 1 and 30 November 2020 will be judged by a panel of judges from XVR. All scenarios will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Realism
  • Localisation
  • Ease of use (also for other XVR users)
  • Narrative

Bonus points will be awarded for creative use of XVR On Scene features and for any extraordinary scenario additions.

Where: Upload your scenario to the XVR Community website (under Content → Upload). Use the application label “CommunityContest2020”. Please remember to include all documentation/playbooks needed to run the scenario! Without this, your scenario will not count as a valid entry.

Who: Any user from the XVR Community can participate in the contest. More users from within the same organisation may participate in the contest. Each user is only allowed to submit one (1) scenario with the label "CommunityContest2020". You can however, upload as many scenarios to the community website as you like. 

Prize: The best scenario will win one (1) head-mounted display, the Oculus Quest 2 (64 GB), and the scenario will be localised for use in other markets by XVR Simulation. Honourable mentions will receive an XVR mug.

The lucky winner(s) will be contacted directly by email in December 2020.

Terms and conditions:
The XVR Community Contest is hosted by XVR Simulation. The contest will run from 1 to 30 November 2020 (between 00:00 to 23:59 CET both days). Scenarios must be submitted via the XVR Community website (http://community.xvrsim.com), must be uploaded with the label “CommunityContest2020”, must include any relevant documentation/playbooks for running the scenario, must be compatible with XVR On Scene 2020, and must be uploaded between 1 and 30 November 2020 (between 00:00 to 23:59 CET both days) to be considered a valid entry for the contest. Each XVR user may submit only one (1) scenario for the contest. It is allowed to submit more scenarios during the contest period if you wish to share with the XVR Community, but only the scenario with the application label “CommunityContest2020” by 30 November 23.59 (CET) will count as the valid entry. All valid entries will be judged by a panel of judges from XVR Simulation, and they will select one (1) winning entry. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The winner will receive one (1) head-mounted display, the Oculus Quest 2 (64 GB). All honourable mentions will receive an XVR mug. The winner and honourable mentions will be notified by email latest 7 December 2020. Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash or other products.
